Marten Foxon - Principal

Marten Foxon is the Founder and Principal of BIAL. He has spent over 25 years in the field of international hotel real estate, asset management and mergers and acquisitions. Initially a consultant with Touche Ross (now Deloitte), since 1990 he has held senior positions in global hotel companies such as Forte plc and InterContinental Hotels Group plc, and worked in the world of private equity for 6 years (Maritz Wolff & Co and Broadreach Capital Partners). Whilst at Forte he was instrumental in the acquisition of Crest Hotels from Bass plc and Le Meridien Hotels and Resorts from Air France. He has managed the disposal of many iconic hotels such as the George V in Paris, the Hyde Park Hotel in London (now the Mandarin Oriental) and the Plaza Athenee hotels in both Paris and New York. He has also acquired, financed, asset managed and sold many other hotels in Europe, Australia, the Caribbean and North America. He joined InterContinental Hotels Group in 2003 in the position of Senior Vice President, responsible for European real estate and M&A, and executed transactions with a combined value of €2.8 billion. Prior to founding BIAL Marten was a partner at Cedar Capital Partners during which time he acquired two London hotels on behalf of a middle eastern investor, and acquired seven InterContinental hotels in Europe from MSREF on behalf of a private investor. Until recently Marten was also a Senior Advisor to a major UK bank. He received a B.Sc. in Hotel and Catering Administration from the University of Surrey.

Charles Prew - Associate

Charles Prew has enjoyed a career spanning more than 45 years in the hospitality sector. He has held senior positions with Hilton Hotels, including Chairman of Hilton Hotels Australia and New Zealand and Vice President Sales and Marketing for Asia, Pacific and Australia. He has also served as CEO of Dawnay Shore Hotels and of Barcelo Hotels UK, and was a director of Jarvis Hotels Plc for many years. Charles now runs his own advisory and support services company, using his experience to assist owners generate enhanced returns from their investments.  One of his first assignments was to act as CEO of von Essen Hotels on behalf of Lloyds Banking Group and Barclays, working alongside EY as administrators. Another major assignment involved the asset management of a portfolio of 10 hotels owned by a Middle Eastern investor, seven of which were operated by InterContinental Hotels Group. Charles is also Non-Executive Chairman of Nadler Hotels Ltd, Chairman of the Advisory Board of Monde Capital, a director of Manior Estate which owns and operates 5-star hotels in Italy, and is a shareholder and director of the Buell Group. He has also served as a Trustee of People 1st , the workforce development charity, since 2004.
